Looking for a great getaway in the Peach State? Our state parks in Georgia are wonderful places to escape your worries, get some exercise, and enjoy our natural scenery - and you can do it all at the same time! One of our favorite state parks is Unicoi, just outside of Helen. This 1,050-acre oasis truly has it all. There are waterfalls, mountains, hiking trails, a campground, and even a lodge and two restaurants right on site. You can easily enjoy a whole several-day getaway without ever leaving the park!
Unicoi State Park and Lodge is one of our favorite state parks in Georgia. There's a ton to do here, with opportunities for hiking, fun on the water, zip lining, camping, and lots more.
The park's 53-acre Lake Unicoi is especially gorgeous when surrounded by fall foliage. But this park is worth a visit at any time of year.
Not only does the park have cabins, a lodge, and campground, but it's also got two restaurants. The Unicoi Restaurant is probably the more popular of the two, but you can also find the Smith Creek Tavern here.
The rustic spot is the perfect complement to the gorgeous scenery that lies outside. There's plenty of seating and even a pool table.
There's a big variety of dishes here, with lots of American dining choices, plus some German options.
The nearby town of Helen is famous for a German-themed downtown, so opt for a pretzel or strudel to get in the mood!
This is such a gorgeous state park in Georgia that's just perfect for a day trip, and with the ability to dine on-site and even sleep there, it's easy to make it into a multi-day adventure if you choose!
