Animal lovers adore getting in touch with their wild sides, and one of the best ways to do that is to check out a zoo or farm in Georgia. We have so many spectacular wildlife parks here in the Peach State, whether it's the internationally renowned Zoo Atlanta or a small-town drive-thru safari. One underrated little zoo that you may have never heard of is the Iron P Homestead Zoo in Hogansville, GA. This tiny town has only about 3,000 people, but it's also home to unique animals like zebras, lemurs, and capybaras, all of which you'll find at the zoo... and you can even interact with if you opt for an animal encounter ticket!
The zoo houses around 50 different animal species, and a Wildlife Walkabout allows you to explore trails through the zoo and check them all out from a distance.
There's a lot to see here, from kangaroos to giant tortoises and water buffalo.
General admission tickets include access to The Petting Corner and The Petting Barn, where you can interact with and pet domestic species like alpacas and donkeys.
The walk-in bird aviary is always a fun experience, and you can purchase bird sticks to raise your chances of making a few friends!
Want to experience even more interaction with the adorable critters here? There are various encounter packages available.
Encounters include getting to feed a sloth and the opportunity to pet a capybara.
Whether you opt for a special encounter or just a general admission ticket, one thing's for sure: a visit here will get you in touch with your wild side!
