Just because we live in Florida doesn’t mean we aren’t able to enjoy a bit of hiking now-and-again. Sure, our hiking doesn’t include mountains, peaks, or scenic overlooks that’ll triple your elevation. But just because we aren’t climbing up, doesn’t mean we don’t have some pretty spectacular sights to see. Check out this river trail that will be the perfect end-cap to your summer.
The River Trail in Silver Springs State Park is a slow-paced, 3-mile out-and-back hike that will wind through the Florida wilderness.
While Silver Springs State Park has miles upon miles of trails split between many different paths, we’re partial to what is nicknamed the Silver River Trail — a combination of the Swamp Trail and River Trail.
However, if you want to test out the Sandhill Nature Trail, you probably have time for it all.
Prepare yourself for a river-view hike, popping in and out of scenes highlighting the stunningly calm, spring-fed river.
The River Trail in Silver Springs is probably one of the few trails where you can actually enjoy the river by foot, as well as by canoe or kayak.
This hiking trail is moderate, perfect for all ages and skill levels.
Keep your eyes peeled for various wildlife who tend to keep to themselves, living freely within their natural habitat.
Along the way, you’ll be able to witness firsthand true Florida nature — with pockets of wetland habitats, scenic overlooks, and so much more.
You can even have your choice of walking most of the trail or taking to the water and slicing your way through the calm water.
