Florida is brimming with beautiful state and national parks that are perfect to visit no matter the season. But while many visitors might choose to check out the bigger, more popular state parks during their travels, we recommend exploring some of those hidden gems, too. For instance, Ravine Gardens State Park in Florida is a smaller, hidden spot near Palatka that is still worth checking out. With rock gardens and cypress buildings, check out why you should consider visiting this smaller state park.
Ravine Gardens State Park in Florida is a hidden gem in Palatka that has been transformed into a most magical place.
Open 8 a.m. to sundown 365 days a year, come see for yourself the beauty of this smaller state park.
At about 59-acres in size, Ravine Gardens is tinier in size, but still has much to offer visitors, especially at just $5 per vehicle to enter.
One of the highlights of this state park revolves around the two ravines, each up to 120-feet in depth.
These steep ravines include a spring-fed creek which never dries up no matter the season.
In 1933, these ravines were transformed into a majestic garden thanks to the federal Works Progress Administration, with original landscaping and hiking trails throughout.
If you’re planning a first-time visit to this park and you’re a flower-lover, we recommend from January to March which is the garden’s peak season for blossoming azaleas.
But visiting any time of year will provide access to the stunning gardens, hiking trails through nature, plus historic features throughout.
