Cooling off in Florida doesn’t necessarily mean you need to find the nearest ocean. There are plenty of other ways to stay refreshed without the sting of saltwater. In fact, there is a giant spring-fed pool in Coral Gables, Florida that has been around since the 1920s and it is as refreshing as ever. Did we happen to mention that it's also the largest freshwater swimming pool in America? Plan your next trip with the family to the Venetian Pool in Coral Gables, Florida.
The Venetian Pool in Coral Gables, Florida is practically paradise on earth for many guests.
What was originally a limestone quarry used for construction in the 1920s, quickly was transformed into a beautiful freshwater lagoon in a Venetian-inspired setting.
Much of the original rock that was part of the quarry was used in the design of the pool to accentuate the natural landscape.
The pool clocks in at 820,000 gallons, which makes it the largest freshwater pool in the entire United States.
Fed by spring water from an underground aquifer, the Venetian Pool is filled and drained daily during the busy seasons of spring and summer.
Guests to the pool can pay a day fee and enjoy all of the perks, like the cool 77 degrees that the pool is kept at every single day.
Outside food is permitted and with the addition of the small eating area nearby, you can have yourself a picnic and go right back to swimming.
Take a dip in this massive freshwater pool in Coral Gables and enjoy the history, architecture, and cool, refreshing water.
