It’s hard nowadays to discover a hidden gem in your state. Most areas of interest have already been discovered! But that’s not to say that there aren’t places that many people still don’t know exist, which makes them perfect for a day off. My personal favorite way to spend a day in Florida is exploring the nearby springs. Florida has so many freshwater springs I like to paddle out, hike, or float under the sun. One spring that remains little-known to most residents is Jackson Blue Springs. This hidden gem spring in Marianna, Florida, is a seasonal spot to unwind and keep cool.
Jackson Blue Spring in Marianna, Florida, is a beautiful park tucked away in the panhandle that highlights a natural spring.
Open on a seasonal basis, guests can start enjoying this spring around Memorial Day every year.
What makes this park so special is the fact that it remains much of a hidden gem, especially when compared to other larger springs in the state.
Guests can enjoy swimming in the springs, tubing, kayaking, using the diving board, or picnicking nearby.
This water is so clear most days that you’ll likely be able to see right to the bottom!
Little kids can enjoy this spring, too, as there are many different shallow spots with nice sanded bottoms.
The spring is listed as a First Magnitude Spring of Florida, and not only is it a recreational gem, but it also supplies water to a 202-acre reservoir known as Merritt’s Millpond.
But we’re partial to this hidden spring being the perfect way to unwind in nature.
