The perfect weekend activity in Florida has arrived and boy is it a true natural wonderment. Florida has a few various claims to fame to be made (There’s No Other McDonald’s In The World Quite Like This One In Florida) but this one perhaps takes the cake. The world’s largest swimming pool is right here in Florida, and it is a beaut that you have to see to believe.
Driving into the heart of Coral Gables, you’ll be amazed at all the lush foliage dotting the streets.
Coral Gables is no stranger to natural beauty, as the entire city is flush with it.
Especially the largest freshwater swimming pool known as Venetian Pool.
Venetian Pool has always been an ever-popular tourist attraction in Coral Gables, with kids diving off the rock hill in the 1940s.
In 1989, a restoration project allowed for many of the pool’s original features to be maintained, making sure visitors to this day can enjoy the natural wonderment.
The pool is in a shallow quarry, with over 800,000 gallons of fresh water being pulled daily from artesian wells.
The depth of the pool varies, with some places as shallow as four feet and others reaching eight feet.
Guests can even swim to the natural grotto, where natural water-filled caves create a bit of solace in the hillside.
There is a sunning area perfect for those looking to catch some rays by the pool, and a cafe area which serves up snacks for those spending the day.
The Venetian Pool was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1981 and in fact, is the only pool listed on the register.
Guess you might have to gather the family and check out this natural beauty for yourself.
Thanks to YouTuber Vodagraph, we have a brief flyover look at what the Venetian Pool looks like from above:
