Most people are familiar with Crandon Park, Florida as the place every year to watch the world’s best tennis players compete in the Miami Open.
However, what many visitors don’t know, is that there is a nearby garden flush with some of the most majestic creatures around.
The Crandon Gardens are located at the south end of Crandon Park in Miami, and these are not your typical gardens.
Once home to the Miami Zoo, the land now sits empty, as the Zoo moved out west in 1980 to a larger plot.
But many of the Zoo habitats still remain, especially the grand waterfowl community.
Peacocks at the Gardens of Crandon Park are everywhere.
It’s not unusual to be walking through the Gardens and see a bevy of peacocks, full plume, showing off their colors.
Hundreds of birds call these gardens home, and with free admission, this is one trip you will want to take.
There is no admission fee to enter the Gardens of Crandon Park, but there is a ton to see while you’re there.
Bring the whole family for a day at the beach and uniquely magical peacock sightings, too.
