Florida has so many incredible state parks, there's really no bad choice. Whether you're looking for a park for your very first trip or you're a lifelong lover of nature, Florida Caverns State Park near Marianna will not disappoint.
Not only is this park the only one in Florida to offer cave tours, visitors can also enjoy hiking, biking and camping, as well as fishing, boating and canoeing on the Chipola River or Blue Hole Spring. It is often recognized for its nice and well-kept campsites.
There is even a nine-hole golf course in the scenic terrain that dates back to the park's New Deal history in the 1930s. After years of development through the Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) and the Works Projects Administration, the park finally opened in 1942.
Guests can take guided cave tours Thursday through Monday only. The tours last 45 minutes and as far as difficulty, they can be moderately strenuous. Another benefit of this park is its proximity to Falling Waters State Park in Chipley, which is home to Florida's tallest waterfall. With a little planning these two parks can easily be combined into one unforgettable trip.
Here's a video that will show you a little glimpse of the caverns (but you still have to see them for yourself):
