Who’s ready for an epic underground adventure that you can only have in Florida? We have a one-of-a-kind experience that the whole family can enjoy together. While it may not include much in the way of rolling waves and a day splashing through the surf, this Florida activity provides a whole lot of history plus a satisfying science lesson, too.
The Florida Caverns State Park is an otherworldly experience that’ll take you deep into the earth for an underground adventure you’ll never forget.
As part of the Florida State Parks System, Florida Caverns State Park is a coveted place that both residents of the state and guests will flock to visit.
What makes these caverns so cool is that they are the only air-filled caves accessible to the public in the state.
Established in 1942, this park offers visitors a rare chance to explore the beautiful cave systems by walking from room to room underground.
You can even see the chisel marks made by Civilian Conservation Corp workers in the 1930s who worked to enlarge the cave passageways by hand.
The park offers guided tours, too, for guests who want to learn a little bit more about the cavern than what meets the eye.
These caverns are even more spectacular when you visit the nearby Chipola River and Blue Hole Springs, which allow for boating, fishing, and hiking!
Whether you experience the wonderment of the limestone cave system on a guided tour or simply journey through these formations which have grown slowly over thousands of years…
…this is sure to be an experience you do not want to miss.
