One of Delaware's most stunning landscapes is protected in Cape Henlopen State Park, and the park itself should be on everyone's Delaware bucket list. Most nature lovers can get behind the idea of a hike, but when you're trying to include the whole family, finding a trail that's easy for everyone and accessible can be a challenge. Luckily, some of the Cape Henlopen trails are built-up boardwalks, which make for easy walking, and strollers and wheelchairs will have an easier time if they do not have to trudge through sand.
In Cape Henlopen State Park, you'll find miles of trails perfect for hiking and biking. Many trails are boardwalks that will take you over protected marshland.
Other boardwalks in Cape Henlopen State Park show off the unique sand dune ecosystems. Look out for nesting turtles in the spring and summer!
Wildlife spotters will appreciate the elevated boardwalks. Around Gordon's Pond, you'll find lookout spots from which you can see rare birds and more.
You'll have plenty of opportunities to spot marsh, forest, and aquatic creatures from the overlooks and interpretive stations.
Of course, one of the most popular boardwalks is a pier that leads you from the park directly onto the picture-perfect beach.
You can find trail maps and more information on park hours and conditions at the Cape Henlopen State Park webpage, here.
