Warm weather is on the way to Delaware! After a long winter, it's about time we get some springtime sunshine. If you're looking to kick off the season in the best way possible, visit the Ashland Nature Center's butterfly forest in Delaware and enjoy a picturesque experience.
Springtime is the perfect time to visit the Ashland Nature Center!
This gorgeous nature center surrounds part of the Red Clay Creek, and the hiking trails are picture perfect.
As you walk through the gorgeous grounds, you'll spot dozens of beautiful butterflies.
The Ashland Nature Center and Delaware Nature Society work together to protect and improve the community of butterflies that calls the center home.
How many different species can you spot? Look for the Monarch, the blue spotted, and the official butterfly of Delaware: the Tiger Swallowtail.
If you're having trouble spotting the pretty critters fluttering about, you can step inside the Butterfly House to see them up close.
You can find the Ashland Nature Center at 3511 Barley Mill Road, Hockessin, DE. It costs just $5 for adults to enter, and $3 for children. As always, Members of the Delaware Nature Society get to enjoy the grounds for free.
The trails around the Nature Center are open from dawn to dusk year round, and the center itself is open from 8:30 am - 4:30 pm each day from April to November. They do close on some holidays, so if you're planning a visit, please double check with the Delaware Nature Society. Check out their website right here to learn more about the free programs that are offered throughout the summer months.
