If you're from Connecticut, then you may have heard of Yantic Falls. But local or not, if you haven't visited these gushing cascades then you definitely should! It would be pretty hard to omit Yantic Falls from the bucket list, especially with its history.
Yantic Falls is located in Norwich, just off Route 2, and stands at forty feet tall.
There is a lovely, and very well kept, train bridge there where many people take photos.
The view from the pedestrian crossing bridge on the other side will let you capture the train bridge and the waterfall together. You can see why this place was a favorite of the Mohegan Indians.
Even winter can't stop this waterfall! The combination of being both high and wide keeps the water flowing year-round.
Between the falls and the pool is a narrow gorge that gives the effect of rapids. But the gorge isn't very long at all.
Many visitors come back to observe the waterfall during season changes and after heavy rainfalls. As you can see, it gets pretty high!
