Of all the beaches in New England, Connecticut traditionally has the warmest water with Long Island protecting us from the strong currents of the Atlantic. But if you are searching for the warmest swimming spot in our state, there is one beach that has multiple sandbars and shallow warm water that is the perfect spot for a summertime dip.
Located in Milford, Silver Sands State Park may be one of the most photographed spots on the Connecticut shoreline. The stunning scenery of this natural oasis never disappoints.
This protected cove has more to offer than just its radiance to offer, it's a popular recreational spot for all things beachy.
Get to the sandy shore by taking the boardwalk across the grassy marsh.
Pick your spot on the beach and get ready for a fun-filled day. When the tide is low, there are wonderful sandbars that make an ideal playground.
The soft sand above the tide line is great for sifting and sculpting, while the water adds what you need to create a sandcastle beyond compare.
Dive on into the warmest water and splash around. The drop is so gradual that there is plenty of shallow water to share.
At the very lowest of tides, a sandbar magically appears allowing you to walk out and explore Charles Island.
You'll also want to take a stroll on the 3/4 mile boardwalk, it's the ultimate spot to stretch your legs.
Wander out to the end of the pier for a panoramic view of the coast.
Keep your eyes peeled for local wildlife, birds like the American Oyster Catcher, Yellow-Crowded Night Heron, Great White Egret, and others that make this habitat their home.
Hunt for seashells or climb the rocks on the jetty for even more beach fun. There's so much to explore at this 297-acre park.
Enjoy a picnic in your picturesque surroundings, a beach day like this can make you hungry.
Of course, you'll want to make some time to relax at the beach too.
Stay until the day is done to be treated to an amazing sunset. It doesn't get much better than this.
