Sometimes, a quiet drive through the countryside seeing all the bucolic farms in Connecticut is just the thing to cure your blues away. If you're looking for a great destination for a long Sunday drive, look no further. Deerfield Farm in Connecticut makes for an excellent early-morning stop. This family-run farm serves up some of the best dairy products in the Nutmeg State. Whether you're looking for chocolate milk or Ricotta cheese, Deerfield Farm supplies fantastic quality foods that are as fresh as can be. And to top it all off, their charming old-fashioned dairy shop has adorable cats you can play with!
Deerfield Farm is a small-scale breeder of Jersey cows that has a tiny self-service farm store selling dairy products.
This is such a great alternative to supporting large-scale factory farms, which tend to have issues with animal welfare.
You'll spot plenty of happy cows here!
The farm store is jam-packed with goodies, but you'll definitely want to arrive early. The raw milk tends to sell out pretty quickly, as it's got a lot of fans.
Please note that the farm store is self-service and you'll need to bring exact change (cash only).
The ricotta is delicious as well, and if you're a fan of coffee, you do not want to miss the mocha milk. It's every bit as incredible as it sounds.
There are usually some barn cats hanging around in the store, so help yourself to some kitty cuddles while you're browsing for dairy products.
There's nothing like a Sunday drive through pastoral Connecticut farmlands to remind you of what a beautiful state this is.
Throw in some chocolate milk and it's absolute heaven!
