The Poquonnock River Walkway is a beautiful boardwalk trail that's accessible to everyone.
Enjoy a brisk walk or more leisurely stroll down the Poquonnock River Walkway. The 1/2-mile boardwalk runs alongside the Poquonnock River in Groton.
Soak in the sunshine, even on a winter day, as you traverse the boardwalk trail. There is little elevation change so this is one of the easiest hikes in the state.
The wide and level boardwalk makes this hike an ideal spot for families. Small children, strollers, walkers, and wheelchairs can navigate the surface with ease.
The river views are simply beautiful. Being close to the shore, you'll likely see plenty of shorebirds passing through the sky across the waters.
Benches along the way offer resting points or simply a place to soak in the fresh air and beautiful scenery.
Discover a gazebo at the end of the trail that makes an ideal picnic spot. Bring a lunch or a snack to extend your time on the waterfront.
Some have found the Poquonnock River Walkway tricky to find. Enter the intersection of Industrial Drive and Depot Road in Groton into your GPS and you will see the park entrance on Depot Road.
