If there's one thing Connecticut isn't lacking, it's apple orchards. We have plenty to choose from. Honestly, they're all great. Each of our state's apple orchards has its own charming qualities that make them awesome. With that said, there's one enormous Connecticut orchard that everyone needs to hit at least once.
In 1741, farmers John and Hope Lyman bought at 37-acre parcel of land in what is now Middlefield. In 275 years and ten generations, their modest farm has grown to more than 1,100 acres.
You'll find much more than just apples at Lyman Orchards. Check out these Asian Pears! Depending on the season, you can also pick your own strawberries, jostaberries, blueberries, raspberries, apples, peaches, nectarines, pears, and pumpkins.
The farm store is called "The Apple Barrel." The air is always filled with the delicious aroma of fresh baked goods.
