Connecticut is home to some amazing trails that lead to scenic vistas. But not every hike with an incredible overlook has to involve a mountainside scramble. Today's featured trail is an easy breezy hike that leads to some dizzying views. The Nepaug Dam Trail is a short, accessible hike that everyone will love.
Located in Collinsville, the Nepaug Dam Trail is a flat paved path that hugs the Nepaug Reservoir and crosses right over top of the dam.
At just one mile round trip, this trail is a wonderful spot to stretch your legs, take a breath of fresh air, and soak in the spectacular scenery year-round.
A suitable spot for all ages and abilities, the path is wide, flat, and paved. The level surface is easy going even for little legs, strollers, and wheelchairs.
More than just an ordinary walking path, this trail crosses over the 130-foot tall dam. Take in the expansive water views in either direction.
If you're feeling brave, stop and peek over the edge. This is one view you definitely won't find on a mountaintop trail.
The water rushing down the side of the dam is a sight that will make your heart pound a little faster. The severe drop is absolutely amazing.
The next time you're searching for a new cycling or walking trail that's simple for the whole family head out to the Nepaug Dam.
Find the trailhead just off of Route 202 after the intersection with Route 179 in Collinsville.
