Not only is Lovers Leap one of the most underrated state parks, but this park features vast overlooks of ancient ruins. For a truly historic hike through one of Connecticut's oldest pieces of land, head to New Milford and visit Lovers Leap State Park right away.
Welcome to Lovers Leap State Park!
This incredible state park is hiding in New Milford. Spanning across 160 acres, this state park features some of Connecticut's coolest history.
The park is broken up into three different parts that each shine a light on different pieces from history. One of the most important landmarks is the 1895 Berlin Iron Bridge.
This is one of only five bridges of its kind in Connecticut. It crosses the Housatonic River and offers amazing scenic views.
After you check out the bridge, you can head to one of the many trails that will take you further into the park.
Upon the trails, you'll find a huge rock formation that they named the park after. Legend has it that an Indian Chief's daughter plunged to her death off of this formation with her lover.
Another fascinating view from the overlook is the ancient ruins that hide underwater. Goodyear Island was submerged long ago.
From amazing nature views, hiking trails, and rare pieces of history, Lovers Leap State Park is truly a hidden gem in New Milford.
