I don't know about you, but I love a good trip to the beach! As soon as the weather gets warm I start planning what beaches I'll be frequenting for the season. Luckily, Connecticut has a lot of options. These beaches in Connecticut are fan favorites, and great for a lone day of tide watching or a family outing.
1. Calf Pasture Beach, a section of Shady Beach Park, is located in Norwalk. Everything here, including concessions, is just a short walk away.
2. Hammonasset Beach State Park in Madison is a great place to walk the dogs and catch some photos of birds on the marshes. That's if you have any time left after catching some striking ocean views!
3. Silver Sands State Park in Milford was once voted one of the best beaches in the New England Area. People love this spot for its beauty and lack of heavy traffic.
4. Harvey's Beach is a hidden gem in Old Saybrook, perfect for young children. The water is shallow for a long distance, making it a natural wading pool!
5. New London's Ocean Beach Park has a nice boardwalk despite being on the smaller side. Because it's a resort area, you'll find easy parking, restrooms, and a pretty good restaurant.
6. Sherwood Island State Park in Westport is great in the summer and fall. Its still waters are great for kids and swimmers.
7. Rocky Neck State Park is a fantastic getaway in East Lyme. Clear water and pristine walking paths make this place great.
8. Westport's Compo Beach is a rocky shoreline perfect for collecting shells and searching for interesting creatures. The playground and skate park means something to do for everyone!
9. Penfield Beach is a Fairfield favorite.
10. Short Beach in Stratford is a spot for sea glass seekers. Definitely bring a pair of water shoes and consider playing tennis with a view of the ocean at your side.
11. Hole-in-the-Wall Beach is so named for being small in size, but this East Lyme location is still worth a visit. This is a family favorite due to the nice connected park.
12. Cove Island Park in Stamford is an activity dreamland. Besides the beach, you can skate, bike, kayak or even play volleyball. So many options!
13. Waterford Beach Park offers a chunk of beach and extensive tidal marsh in small town Waterford. These views of the Long Island Sound will make your mouth water.
You should pack a beach bag now so you can be ready as soon as the moment hits!
