One of the most underrated Connecticut state parks is Hopeville Pond State Park. It's tucked away in New London County, and this area is a paradise for those looking to explore all of the state's beauty. The park is located right next to the 27,000-acre Pachaug State Forest, giving you virtually endless opportunities for exploration. No matter the season, this is one place you'll want to visit.
Hopeville Pond State Park spans just over 550 acres. It's located on Hopeville Pond and is a wonderful spot for camping, hiking, fishing, and swimming.
You'll find a variety of trails here that are perfect for all different skill levels.
The pond gets its name from the lost town of Hopeville that was once located nearby. This once-thriving community burned down in the late 19th century and was never rebuilt.
The campground here offers 80 campsites that are tucked away in a serene wooded area, plus a cabin that is available for rent.
It's also a great area for swimming or simply relaxing by the pond.
Between Hopeville Pond State Park and nearby Pachaug State Forest, it feels like there's endless room to explore here!
