If you have been following Only in Colorado for awhile, you have probably noticed that I have an undying love of the incredible Maroon Bells, with its perfect peaks and picturesque surroundings. If you have yet to see this majestic area in person, just what are you waiting for? Need a little more convincing? Check out these 11 incredible pictures (with commentary from the photographers):
1. No matter the time of day, these Bells ring. (See what I did there?)
2. "The Maroon Bells are two peaks in the Elk Mountains, South Maroon Peak and North Maroon Peak, separated by about a third of a mile. The mountain is on the border between Pitkin County and Gunnison County, Colorado, United States, about 12 miles southwest of Aspen. Both peaks are counted as fourteeners. Maroon Peak, at 14,156 feet, is the 27th highest peak in Colorado; North Maroon Peak, at 14,014 feet, is the 50th highest."
3. "We were told several times that the color or the fall aspen trees was the best it had been in 10 years! And what amazing fortune and blessing to arrive at the peak of fall glory. I had no idea or expectation of the color, it was a complete surprise."
4. Fell free to save this one as your desktop wallpaper:
5. "Got up early Monday morning to head up to the Maroon Bells and there was probably a good three inches of snow. The clouds didn’t start breaking up over the Bells until about 9 AM or so. I thought the snow and clouds turned out to be a blessing in disguise. I would think this weekend would be a great time to be out there as the colors are likely at their peak."
6. A little springtime sunshine:
7. Even rocks appear to be more beautiful around the Maroon Bells.
8. "Unfortunately, I was a couple weeks too late to catch the Aspen colors! (Note the bare trees on the right.)"
It still looks great to us!
9. "A lady in the Maroon Bells."
10. "The Maroon Bells in the Elk Range near Aspen, Colorado, USA are two of Colorado's 54 "fourteeners" (peaks over 14,000 feet in elevation). This is probably the most photographed spot in Colorado!)"
11. Good night, Beautiful!
