Last week, we brought you The One Winter Hike That Will Show You Colorado Like Never Before... but with the Centennial State being a premiere outdoor destination, how can we possibly stop at just one winter hike?! (Answer: we couldn't.) That being said, here are 11 more of our favorite picturesque hikes in Colorado that you will want to explore this winter:
1. Roxborough State Park (Littleton)
Got a hankering to hike but don't have time to leave the city? Enter Roxborough State Park, which offers some out-of-this-world views that will make you feel like you're a million miles away from the ordinary.
2. Garden of the Gods (Colorado Springs)
With an impressive 15-miles worth of trails, there is truly something for every taste (and skill level) at the stunning Garden of the Gods.
3. Lily Lake (Estes Park)
Perfect for beginners, Lily Lake is a short, 1.1-mile hike on a flat gravel trail. (I don't know about you, but this sounds like MY kind of hike!)
4. Cub Lake (Rocky Mountain National Park)
For a more moderate hike with some pretty remarkable landscape, check out Cub Lake, which is located near Moraine Park and boasts a roundtrip length of just under 5 miles.
5. Saint Mary's Glacier (Idaho Springs)
Located in Arapaho National Forest, Saint Mary's is a popular 1.5-mile trek that is perfect for a quick, yet scenic day hike.
6. Castlewood Canyon State Park (Franktown)
Not only is a hike around Castlewood Canyon beautiful, it is also historically significant, as the area houses the remains of Castlewood Canyon Dam; a large dam that burst in the early 1930s and flooded the entire Denver metro area.
7. Flatirons Vista Trail (Boulder)
If you thought this Boulder tradition was beautiful during the summer, wait until you see it covered in a layer of glistening frost!
8. Mantiou Incline (Manitou Springs)
Need a little help warming up this chilly winter season? The butt-busting, 2,744-step Manitou Incline can help with that...
9. Chasm Lake (Rocky Mountain National Park)
You know the old saying, "Nothing worth having comes easy"? That definitely applies here, as the hike to the lake is a whopping 8.5-miles but is oh-so worth it to get a glimpse of this unforgettable beauty.
10. Hanging Lake (Glenwood Springs)
Please note: Even if the lake is frozen, don't come in contact with it, as the pristinely blue waters of the lake are comprised of delicate travertine.
11. Maroon Bells (Aspen)
Are you surprised that we ended on a super high note like the incredible Maroon Bells? I didn't think so...
