Ah, the suburbs. Serene, beautiful, and genuine; the most peaceful part of city life. There is something magical about those antique streets with their Victorian façades and perfectly manicured lawns. Suburbs have the power to capture and amplify the charm of their neighboring big city, and no suburb is as quaint and charming as Lakewood. Nothing beats a casual shopping trip down Madison Avenue, followed by a visit to Lakewood's loveliest park. What makes it so stand-out? Well, you really have to see it to believe it.
Welcome to Lakewood, Ohio!
This Greater Cleveland suburb is quaint, a peaceful place to escape from the din of the urban jungle that is Cleveland.
And one feature of Lakewood Park in particular is pure magic.
Lakewood Park, located at 14532 Lake Avenue, is a lovely piece of lakefront property that offers spectacular views of the Cleveland skyline.
With 31 acres of immaculate beauty framed beneath a backdrop of the iconic Cleveland skyline, it is no wonder that locals cherish this charming park.
Nestled against the shore of Lake Erie, Lakewood Park flawlessly captures the beauty of life on the shore.
And the Lakefront Promenade, a stunning brick walkway that has graced the park since only 2011, sets the scene for the dreamiest strolls.
Yet, the most stunning feature of the park is not actually in the park...
...It's also on the shore of our beloved Great Lake.
When the park was established nearly a century ago, the land was an incredibly controversial purchase.
Lakewood, which had only become a city in 1911, had already purchased two small parks by 1917 for a combined $80,000. Yet Lakewood Park—beautiful, though, it was—cost a whopping $214,500 in 1918, a price tag which was considered somewhat controversial.
Yet within its first year of existence, Lakewood fell in love with this charming park. That tradition has continued today.
And the landscape has changed, too. These Solstice Steps are just one of many exciting attractions in the park.
Other favorites include the 9,500 square foot skate park and a delightfully picturesque playground.
As you may have guessed, the steps provide a romantic spot to watch the sun melt into the horizon.
But, as night falls, parkgoers are treated to an especially beautiful display as the city lights begin to flicker on.
This charming park and its delightful lakefront hiking brings locals closer to nature, allowing them a lovely escape from busy city life.
While Lake Erie's bad rap continues to haunt it, parks like this emphasize its beauty.
So plan a trip to Lake Erie's shore...
...And end your day at one of the dreamiest parks in the state.
Lakewood Park has been beloved for generations, and it only grows more entrancing as the Cleveland skyline evolves. What is your favorite feature in the park?
