Ready for a trip down nostalgia lane? One of the most wonderful things about landmarks like this is that they are multi-generational in that they ripen to an age where nearly an entire population can say, "I remember going there as a kid!" A visit to local landmarks becomes a time-honored tradition that is passed down, but it is doubtlessly made even more enjoyable when that landmark is an adorable kid-sized fun park.
Welcome back to Memphis Kiddie Park!
Memphis Kiddie Park opened its doors in 1952, delighting northeast Ohioans. In its infancy, the Kiddie Park was one of three in Cleveland; Kiddieland in Warrensville Heights and Kiddieland at the Zoo have since closed, but Memphis Kiddie Park remains to create new memories.
Though it has been updated, the park retains much of its original charm.
When it opened, Memphis Kiddie Park featured 9 irresistible rides: Train, Merry-Go-Round, Airplanes, Hand Cars, Boats, Ferris Wheel, Jeeps, Skyfighters, and the Little Dipper. Live ponies were also an attraction that delighted guests. Today, 11 rides wait to thrill a new generation of guests.
The Kiddie Park is as delightful as ever!
Like a fine wine, some things just grow better with age. This park has grown more charming, and you'll appreciate the laid-back atmosphere while the kids enjoy rides such as the Electric Roadway, Skyfighters, and a comfortably-sized Ferris Wheel.
In addition to the rides, a concession stand, arcade, and miniature golf course add to the park's appeal.
No matter what you and the kids enjoy, you will be immersed in old-fashioned family fun.
Returning to the park as an adult offers a few perks, as well.
Kids and grown ups alike will enjoy the Train, the Merry-go-Round, and the Little Dipper. The train is no longer the original "diesel" engine, but is a more modernized model that was introduced in 1963.
Each ride costs only one ticket and tickets never expire! You'll find yourself bringing the kids back over and over again.
Unlike bigger amusement parks, there is no entrance fee at Memphis Kiddie Park. A book of 25 tickets is $34, but 10 tickets can be purchased for $21 or individually for $2.40 each. Since the tickets never expire, the best deal is, of course, to stock up with the biggest pack and return over and over again!
Hours tend to fluctuate, so be sure to check the Memphis Kiddie Park page before you go.
As Memphis Kiddie Park is an outdoor attraction, operation is dependent upon the weather and other factors.
What are you waiting for? Plan a trip to pass on the tradition to a new generation!
Don't these photos bring back memories? For decades, families have been building memories at this spectacular little park, and the fun only continues today.
