When leaves begin to change in Cleveland, the effect is almost startling. Why? Well, they remind us that summer is over! Sure, the colorful diversity is stunning, but autumn weather and the spread of fall foliage can feel almost unpredictable. Wouldn't it be great to know exactly when we can expect the foliage to light up in a warm-hued spectrum? Thanks to the experts over at Smoky Mountains, there is a way to predict when to see fall colors in Ohio. Let's take a look at this year's fall foliage map for Cleveland:
The Fall Foliage Prediction Map from Smoky Mountains is an interactive tool that predicts when and where to view maximum foliage.
The map above offers an educated forecast of when foliage is expected to peak across the U.S.
Fall foliage is expected to arrive in Ohio in early to mid-October, and the upper part of the state is likely already experiencing the early stages of this seasonal change.
The map uses a color-coded system to show the ideal times to see the fall foliage in different regions. The orange color that covers most of Ohio shows that the state will be in "Partial Peak," and the darker orange-red region around the Cleveland area reveals that partial coverage is anticipated at this time, taking us one step closer to "Near Peak" season.
Change is coming soon, so now is the time to start planning a foliage-viewing trip! Around Oct. 10, northern Ohio will be approaching, or at, peak fall foliage. You must head out soon and spend some time outdoors while the leaves are pristine and vibrant! You'll want to strike while the iron's hot, however, because by Halloween, Cleveland will be passing prime peak fall foliage.
