Our amazing city has a wide array of parks both within Cincinnati limits and in the surrounding region. It's remarkable how much you can experience in the outdoors, right here in the Queen City. While we love the popular parks in Cincinnati, we also have a special place in our heart for those lesser-known destinations that have somehow remained a secret to many. For some of the best views, hiking trails, campgrounds, and lakefront sunsets, check out these seven secret parks in Cincinnati you've never heard of but need to visit.
1. Friendship Park
Officially called Theodore M. Berry International Friendship Park, this beautiful area is situated right on the river along Riverside Drive. There are unique views of the waterway and surrounding scenery, as well as some eye-catching artwork that makes this park one-of-a-kind. 2. Doe Run Lake
Doe Run Lake is a hidden gem in Kenton County that may not seem like much but is filled with natural beauty. There is a hiking trail, you can fish, and don't forget your camera at sunset because the skies at this park turn into pure magic! 3. French Park
Perhaps you've heard of French Park in Amberley Village, but chances are you don't know all this beautiful place has to offer. It's a fantastic event space and is filled with history, but also offers a variety of hiking trails that are some of the best and most adventurous in the city. 4. Bellevue Park
It's hard to believe that such an incredible park can remain relatively unknown, but such is the case with Bellevue Park in Clifton. The history of this land is incredible, and it was once a popular pavilion for outdoor dancing and music. The views from this park are unlike any others in Cincinnati and really must be experienced. 5. Big Bone Lick State Park
Not far from Cincinnati in Union, Kentucky is a historic site that not many take the time to explore. Big Bone Lick State Park is one of those places that you see signs for but likely have never ventured off the highway to see for yourself. It's definitely worth a side trip for the history, museum, hiking trails, and, of course, the herd of bison that call the park home. 6. Glenwood Gardens
Another park that has mysteriously remained a hidden gem is Glenwood Gardens and the Highfield Discovery Garden found within it. This whimsical place is perfect for little ones, but the park as a whole is a wonderful place for just about anyone to hike, explore, learn, and relax. AJ Jolly Park in Alexandria is another destination that is not far from Cincinnati but is brutally underrated. It's a beautiful park with a great campground and a picturesque lake that offers fishing opportunities, boat rentals, and more.
