Both within the Cincinnati city limits and in our suburbs, locals are making green space and parks a priority. Cincinnatians love our urban downtown, but we also love the open space and natural beauty of the wide variety of parks that are scattered throughout our region. Many adjacent cities and neighborhoods are also making strides to ensure generations will have plenty of undisturbed nature to experience, one of which is the city of Lebanon. Just north of Cincinnati, Lebanon has been developing the unique Miller Ecological Park, and it continues to grow in size and features. This little-known park has something for everyone and is definitely worth a visit.
Miller Ecological Park first opened in 2013 as a City of Lebanon park.
The location of this property is ideal, as it's within walking distance of multiple Lebanon schools and is along the city's bike path.
The park was created as an ecological one, meaning that the natural features of the park would be left as undisturbed as possible.
The park has been planned to allow for the natural beauty, landscape, plant life, and wildlife to continue to thrive and be the main feature of the acreage.
The park continues to grow and add features, but there's plenty to enjoy right now.
One of the most popular activities are the walking trails, which take you through different sections of the park.
There's a picturesque mile-long wildflower trail that takes you around a meadow and beautifully changes throughout the year.
Another one-mile trail takes you past many of the active features of the park and a shorter 0.67-mile trail takes you around a more wooded area. Since they are all manageable distances, you can really enjoy them all in one visit.
Miller Ecological Park is a wonderful play space for kids, who can not only run around and get fresh air but also gain a new appreciation for nature and utilize their imaginations.
There's a labyrinth path, as well as several nature playscapes that children will love to climb on and explore.
This is not your typical playground; instead, it takes what is already found in nature - such as tree stumps and creeks - and opens them up to the playfulness of children.
There is also much more in the works for this area.
The park hosts many events throughout the year where your entire family can experience the park, learn about what it offers, and explore the wonders of nature.
Miller Ecological Park is already a loved spot for locals and those who make a trip to visit, so it's bound to only get better with time as the city continues to feature the best this naturally beautiful area has to offer.
All of the activities and continued efforts to create this park are outlined on its website, linked below.
Lebanon residents are falling in love with this naturally beautiful park in their city, and if you're not from the immediate area, this green space is definitely worth a visit!
