Time spent outdoors with your family always creates special memories, and Cincinnati has countless options to do just that. We recently featured a west side waterfront gem here, and now we're heading northeast to Symmes Township and another Great Parks hidden gem, Lake Isabella. If you've ever gotten off the highway at Loveland-Madeira, then you've likely seen the signs for this lake and park, but have you ever followed them? It's time you did because this family-friendly lake in Cincinnati is a must visit this summer.
Lake Isabella is a 77-acre park in Symmes Township that features a picturesque 28-acre lake and plenty of family-friendly activities.
It's long been known as a terrific spot for fishing, but there's more to experience than that.
Even just a relaxing stroll along the water and around the boathouse is reason enough to visit, and during the summer it's a great place to bring the family and enjoy all this park has to offer.
The full-service boathouse has everything you need to try out your fishing skills (or maybe just your fishing luck), as well as snacks, drinks, and restrooms.
During the summer, the park also hosts Friday night grill outs, and you can find out more about them here.
The events begin at 5 p.m. and families can enjoy a grilled dinner on the dock and live music, fishing, and playing afterward.
If you are interested in a family outing to fish, Lake Isabella is a wonderful place to give it a try.
They have everything you need to get started, as you can rent poles and fishing boats from the boathouse, and also stock up on bait and other necessities. It is a pay lake and prices are listed on their website (linked below). The lake is stocked weekly and you can choose to take a boat out or try your luck from the dock or the banks of the lake.

The family fun doesn't stop with fishing, although it's a great place to start. You can also simply pack a lunch to enjoy outdoors and then check out the playground that's fun for all ages.
This year the park also added a primitive campground with 24 tent sites within walking distance of the lake, a boathouse, and a playground. The campground is also right next to the Little Miami River canoe/kayak launch if you'd like to bring yours along. It's an added feature that now makes Lake Isabella a fun overnight destination.
Lake Isabella is a hidden gem in Cincinnati and with its accessibility and range of activities, it makes for the perfect family-friendly outing this summer.
If you have yet to follow those signs to Lake Isabella, make a point to do it the next time you're in the area. Lake Isabella is indeed a great park in Hamilton County and a delightful place to make family memories.
