One of the best things about living in Southern California is getting to enjoy the beautiful California Coast! There is no shortage of ways to explore our breathtaking coastline, whether it be on foot or on the water. However, one of our favorite ways to enjoy a day on the coast is strolling along the San Clemente Beach Trail. Running alongside the railroad tracks, you'll enjoy the most spectacular views of the ocean from the trail's beginning to its end. Is there anything more amazing?
We can't think of a better way to spend the day than walking or cycling along the Southern California coast. The San Clemente Beach Trail in Orange County is great for doing just that!
This 2.3-mile paved trail makes it easy to enjoy a day by the beach. Easily accessible and boasting fantastic coastal views, it's no wonder the trail is so popular with cyclists, walkers, and joggers.
The trail connects San Clemente's North Beach to Calafia Beach with stops along the way at the Pier and T-Street. San Clemente Pier Beach is a major destination on the trail. In addition to a wide sandy beach, you'll find many shops and restaurants at the Pier and its surrounding area.
The trail closely follows the railroad tracks, so it's common to see a train whizzing by as you stroll along the path. It's pretty awesome to see the train pass you by and disappear up the coastline! Do be sure to use designated railroad crossings and to stay out of the train right-of-way.
The majority of the trail is flat and paved, making it accessible for most people. The portions of the trail that are fully ADA accessible are North Beach to Mariposa and Linda Lane to the Pier. Additionally, there are a few no-biking zones in which cyclists must dismount or be fined, so be sure to pay attention to the signs.
After passing by the bridge by T Street, the trail transforms into a dirt path that's surrounded by cliffs and wildflowers. You've reached the end of the trail when you arrive at Calafia park.
The San Clemente Beach Trail is one of those trails that reminds us how lucky we are to live in Southern California, where coastal beauty and beach fun are just a stroll away! Visit San Clemente's website to learn more about the Beach Trail and what it has to offer.
