Northern California features tons of beautiful places, but some might consider this state park downright magical. It so closely resembles the mythical forests that surround characters in the Hobbit and Lord of the Rings, you might feel like you have been transported into the books or films themselves when you walk around the Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park.
Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park encompasses a growth of redwood trees and is part of the parks collectively managed as Redwood National Park.
Each of those 4 parks has a different personality, however, and Jedediah Smith is definitely a magical place.
Visitors are so taken with the natural scenery that it's easy for them to imagine they have been dropped into a world of fantasy.
And the most epic world of fantasy that was ever dreamed up is, of course, Tolkien's Middle Earth.
Can't you picture the characters of the Lord of the Rings running along this bridge?
The epic forest here could easily be a scene in Rivendell with the sunlight streaming through the trees. You almost wouldn't be surprised if a long haired elf walked through this idyllic scene.
And couldn't you just picture a hobbit or two running along this trail on their way to 2nd breakfasts?
This rope swing hangs from a bridge over one of the prettiest swimming holes I have ever seen.
The park is located along the clear waters of the Smith River.
The greenish hue is so similar to the lakes and rivers seen in the movies. It's easy to let your imagination run wild in this incredible setting.
If you want our advice on how to get the most of this lovely State Park, pick up your favorite book in the series and take it to the park to read. You won't regret the trip or the story.
Have you ever been to the Jedediah Smith Redwoods State Park? If so, did you feel like the experience was magical?
