Located off of U.S. Route 1 between the town of Eureka and Oregon's border, Humboldt Lagoons State Park is one of the most breathtaking places on the coast. Containing three lagoons in an incredible wetlands landscape, this is a truly unique place that everybody should experience.
The state park is considered the largest lagoon system in the country. It contains Big Lagoon, Stone Lagoon, and Freshwater Lagoon. It's an incredibly peaceful place where you can go to get away from it all. The beach is often shrouded in mist, creating a perfectly serene atmosphere.
The lagoons are totally surrounded by vibrant green scenery. Take advantage of one of the hiking trails in the area that lead you through ancient groves of beautiful redwood trees. The region is simply awe-inspiring.

Guests of the park are allowed to swim, fish, and kayak in the lagoons. The Stone Lagoon Visitor Center even rents kayaks and paddleboards to visitors. Paddling in these lagoons is definitely an experience you'll remember for years to come.
Located nearby is the often-photographed Stone Lagoon School. The red schoolhouse was originally built in 1893. Since it closed its doors in 1958, the schoolhouse stands as a silent reminder of the region's history.
