There's nothing more Southern California than spending the day with your toes in the sand while listening to the relaxing sound of ocean waves crashing all around you. If that sounds like your kind of afternoon, but you're looking for a bit more adventure to your beach day, then make sure to check out this charming cove in SoCal. It may be small, but it's positively delightful in every way.
To experience one of the smallest and quietest beaches in SoCal you'll want to head to Laguna Beach and spend some time at Shaw's Cove.
This cove may be small, but it provides a variety of different sceneries to explore including tide pools, rocks for climbing...
And plenty of crashing waves.
Did I mention crashing waves? Now there's a picture-perfect postcard!
But Shaw's Cove is so much more than your average beach. It's also a treasured place to find a variety of marine life.
You'll most likely see some people snorkeling and scuba diving at Shaw's Cove. Just look at all the beauty to be found as you explore under water.
You might think a place like this is hard to find, but it's actually fairly easy to reach. You'll find parking to be quite accessible in the residential area above the beach or along the main street, especially during the weekday.
To reach the beach just head down the stairs and enjoy the view of all the gorgeous homes as you make your way down to the sand.
When you reach the bottom, you'll be greeted by a picturesque beach that will feel like your own private island.
Treat yourself to a sunset while you're here and try to linger until the sun goes down. This view is the perfect way to end a perfect SoCal day.
Shaw's Cove is located in Laguna Beach on Fairview Street. A few tips to note: Shaw's Cove doesn't have any public restrooms down on the beach so plan ahead and plan accordingly. You also won't find a lot of shade in this little slice of paradise, so make sure to slather on your sunscreen to protect your skin.
While you're in the area, make sure to carve out some time to stop at this retro milkshake shack in SoCal. It's the kind of place that will make you feel like a kid again.
