Kiddos can climb, slide, swing, and more at this oh-so-fun castle-themed park. Folsom Kids Play Park, often called Castle Park, is a small park located in the city of Folsom, not far from Sacramento. This family-friendly park in Northern California should definitely be on your radar.
The playground is a great place for kids to swing, climb, and explore.
There is another, separate area for toddlers and babies.
The park was originally built in 1996.
It features rope ladders, giant tires, a bridge, and a wooden, fortress-like playground that resembles a castle.
Over the years, the playground has deteriorated a bit. Some areas are cordoned off and unusable.
However, kids can still have fun at this playground, but it is in need of fixing-up. The city of Folsom is considering shutting it down, or spending $1.1 million in city funds to restore the much loved park.
Don’t be deterred from visiting, there is still a lot of fun to be had but keep in mind that it is not a new playground.
This playground is an old-school wooden one that is not often seen these days. Locals love this playground for its uniqueness and ‘90s nostalgia.
In addition to play equipment, the park also has picnic tables and a trail.
If you visit, you’ll see why people are rallying to save Castle Park.
Keep in mind that there is not a lot of shade at this park.
If it’s a hot day– as is common in Folsom during the summertime– bring lots of water, sunscreen, hats, and dress in lightweight clothing.
So plan a visit to Castle Park! You'll also find plenty to enjoy in this charming city that feels more like a small town. Whether you're exploring the historic district with its quaint shops and eateries, taking a scenic walk along the lake, or letting the kids burn off energy at Castle Park, there's something for everyone. The park, with its nostalgic wooden structures, not only provides fun for the little ones but also evokes a sense of nostalgia for adults. Bring a picnic and make a day of it!
