If there's one thing that Northern California is epecially well-known for, it's our redwood forests. Visiting these towering trees for yourself is always an enchanting experience, but there's one seriously unique event that will show off our redwoods in a whole new light. The annual candlelight walk at Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park is a highly anticipated event, and it's easy to see why. This candle-lit walk looks positively magical, and it's an experience you don't want to miss out on.
See Northern California's magnificent redwood trees like never before when you attend this year's Candlelight Walk at Prairie Creek Redwoods State Park. Now in its 30th year, this popular event will enchant you from beginning to end.
Due to its popularity, the candlelight walk will be held over two nights: Friday, December 6 and Saturday, December 7. On each night, doors will open at 5:00 p.m. before the candlelight walk begins at 6:00p.m.
During this family-friendly event, visitors will enjoy walking through the majestic old-growth redwoods as a candle-lit path illuminates underneath the night sky. The forest is lit by luminaries, so guests are asked to please not bring traditional fire-powered candles on the trail.
In its entirety, the walk is less than a half-mile round trip, making it perfect for both young and old. However, you'll want to be sure to dress accordingly as it's often wet and cold at the park during this time of year.
Prior to the walk, guests can enjoy light refreshments and auctions at the visitor center. Money raised from the annual candlelight walk goes directly back into supporting the Redwood National and State Parks, so know you're contributing to a good cause when you attend!
Reservations for this one-of-a-kind event are available starting November 1. Tickets go fast, so be sure to grab yours right away. You can purchase tickets on the Redwood Parks Conservancy website here.
