Hidden deep in the Colorado Desert exists a tiny oasis only accessible through a trail in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park. It’s the stuff of fantasy, with beautiful plants, trees, and a waterfall. The hike is fairly flat and easy, making it a perfect choice for hikers of any skill level!
Borrego Palm Canyon Trail is a 2.9 mile loop in Anza-Borrego Desert State Park.
The trail itself is level and easy to traverse, giving hikers a serene trip through the desert.
The trail is surrounded by natural beauty, but the best part comes at the end.
This is the third-largest palm oasis in California. The large cluster of palm trees marks the spot that led to the state park being established in the 1920s.
Further down the trail, past the trees, is a seasonal waterfall that will delight visitors who have made it all the way through.
It is like the pot of gold at the end of the rainbow━pretty, legendary, and lucky.
There is an alternate trail on the way back, for those who want different sights than the ones coming in.
It is slightly more difficult than the main trail, with some rock scrambles and extra length added on; however it is still a fairly easy trail.
The springtime is wildflower season, and the trail is naturally decorated with colorful blooms.
Paired with the incredibly scenic mountains and sparse desert beauty, Borrego Palm Canyon Trail is one of the best places in Southern California to sight see.
Maps are available at the trailhead, and during the wintertime, a staff member sells water and merchandise.
Anza-Borrego Desert State Park is located at 200 Palm Canyon Drive in Borrego Springs, California, and the hidden mysteries within are well worth the hike!
