When you live in Southern California it's easy to take for granted all of the magnificent outings that surround us. If you love the outdoors, historical tours, lush green scenery and picturesque hiking trails, then you're going to want to put this gorgeous state park at the top of your must-see list.
Located in Pacific Palisades, one of Southern California's most beloved state parks is one destination that everyone in SoCal must experience at least once.
Will Rogers State Historic Park isn't an ordinary park in any way. In addition to offering hundreds of acres of land to explore, it also includes a rare look at the former ranch house owned by Will Rogers.
Will Rogers State Historic Park can be found at 1501 Will Rogers Park Rd
Pacific Palisades, CA 90272.
From 1928-1935, this is the ranch house where Will Rogers lived. In 1944 his home and surrounding acreage was deeded to the state several years' after his untimely death.
On Thursdays and Fridays each week, multiple public tours are offered throughout the day so you can see this former Hollywood home up close and in person.
Although tours are free and open to the public on designated days, you will be required to pay a parking fee. At the time of this writing the all-day fee is $12.00 per car.
In addition to ranch tours, you can also enjoy a variety of hiking trails at Will Rogers State Historic Park.
From a short two-mile loop around the property to a more moderate canyon hike into the Santa Monica Mountains, you'll find there's a little something for everyone and every skill level.
If you have a four-legged friend with you, feel to bring your pooch along as they are welcome on the trails as long as they are leashed.
In addition to hiking, the trails at Will Rogers State Historic Park are open to equestrian visitors as well. If you'd like a guided trail ride, you can book a guide who will take you along the route that Will Rogers used to take.
No matter what sort of activity you want to embrace -- historical tour, a day on the trail, or even a scenic horse back ride, you'll find tons of activities that will make this your new favorite state park.
What a beautiful way to spend the day in Southern California. Have you ever had the chance to experience Will Rogers State Historic Park for yourself?
