The Caribbean and Arkansas don’t have much in common… or do they? As it turns out, the Long Pool Recreation Area in Dover has a natural pool with clear waters that rival the Caribbean. What’s more, Long Pool in Arkansas is surrounded by incredible natural beauty and is just a short distance from an idyllic waterfall. It’s pure paradise and easily one of the most scenic places in Arkansas; and as far as Arkansas swimming holes go, it ranks pretty high on my list.
Brimming with beauty as well as recreational opportunities, Long Pool Recreation Area is located within Piney Creeks Wildlife Management Area in Dover.
Though there is a lot to love about the recreation area, there’s no denying that its best feature is definitely its large natural pool, otherwise known as one of the best swimming holes in Arkansas.
Like a hidden oasis, the pool is surrounded by steep, rocky bluffs and thick forests.
But a secluded locale is just one of its paradise-like features. Another is its pristine waters.
Crystal-clear with a slight blue hue, the water is absolutely stunning!
It’s the perfect place for a refreshing dip or relaxing canoe ride. And as one of the most scenic places in Arkansas, it's also a great spot to soak up the state's natural beauty.
You can do more than splash around at Long Pool Recreation Area, though.
You can also hike to a waterfall!
An easy trek that’s suitable for all skill levels, the Long Pool Falls Trail is just 1 mile and leads straight to Long Pool Falls.
With so much to offer, you’ll likely want to spend more than one day at Long Pool Recreation Area. Luckily, the recreation area has primitive and RV campsites.
