If you're looking to escape scorching temperatures as the weather warms up, don't be tempted to settle for a boring municipal pool. Arkansas has plenty of places where you can enjoy nature and beat the heat! One of our personal favorites is Gunner Pool, which has some of the bluest water you'll ever encounter!
Located in the minuscule town of Fifty-Six (a Stone County city with a population that numbers only about twice its name!), Gunner Pool is sandwiched between Gunner Creek and Sylamore Creek.
The pool is about half an acre wide and is part of the Gunner Pool Recreation Area, a lesser-known gem of Arkansas. You can camp, picnic, hunt, hike, and of course, swim!
Gunner Pool's seemingly magical blue tint is a result of dissolved limestone and other minerals from the ground beneath it. Though it has a scientific cause, it looks like something out of a fairy tale.
The pristine water is so relaxing and picturesque! You can easily see to the bottom with water this clear.
It's readily evident where the nickname of the Natural State came from! Gunner Pool is one of the most beautiful sites in Arkansas.
That blue water rivals what you might see in Hawaii! You'll feel completely at peace surrounded by the best that Arkansas has to offer.
With over 600,000 acres of natural lakes, Arkansians have no reason to settle for a dull concrete swimming pool with all this natural beauty on offer! Come on out to Gunner Pool and enjoy the stunning scenery and amazingly blue water.
