If you're wanting more after visiting Mt. Magazine, then head to Wildman Twin Falls. The short scramble will reward hikers with a stunning set of waterfalls!
If you've taken on all the trails around Mount Magazine, this nearby waterfall trip may be for you.
Less than 10 miles northeast of the beloved state park is a set of waterfalls fit for a true Arkansas adventurer.
The actual hike is short but rather woolly.
Once you've reached the parking coordinates, the actual hike is barely half a mile. However, we do not recommend this trek for young or inexperienced hikers.
The most difficult part of this hike is the descent to reach the bottom of the falls. But, as you can see, it's a sight worth seeing!
Once you've reached the parking area, walk a short way along the ATV trail on the left. Cross the small creek (which feeds into the falls) and follow the volunteer trail on the right. The trail will slope and open to the Wildman Twin Falls. Carefully (we cannot stress that word enough) head down and around to reach the bottom of the falls.
You may not be able to stand directly behind the 40-foot falls, but there some spectacular splash zones!
The main cascades tightly cling to the rocks but there are spots where you can walk behind the more open drizzles. The pool of water beneath the falls isn't deep enough for swimming but it is a perfect spot to cool down!
The trek downhill may get your heart rate up but once you've reached this beautiful area you'll be in a peaceful paradise.
As always, do further research before heading out on any trail and be sure to leave no trace. Rick's Hiking Blog gives great direction.
If this isn't the hike for you, you can still enjoy the Wildman aesthetics by watching this video:
