If you've been-there-done-that with your Eureka Springs getaway, then it's time to discover more hidden attractions the town has to offer. The underrated Black Bass Lake may be overlooked in favor of more popular areas like Basin Park or Lake Leatherwood, but this quiet park is well worth the day trip! Let's take a stroll around the lake as we learn more about this serene and green attraction.
On the western outskirts of Eureka Springs resides a little fishing lake that's well worth the trip.
The 200-acre park may be a little modest compared to the other big-name destinations around the town, but there are still plenty of reasons to visit. This daytime trip will be perfect for families or anyone wanting to take a quiet moment to reconnect with nature.
The park's name comes from the best activity to enjoy on the lake - fishing!
The lake does indeed carry black bass! Though fishers may catch bluegill, spotted bass, bigmouth bass, and more.
Although it's a rather underrated park, Black Bass Lake does have some historic sites!
The lake is home to one of the oldest, still standing dams in the Ozarks. The stone-cut dam was handbuilt in 1894 - over 125 years ago!
The park features a collection of trails that travel around the lake.
Standing Rock Trail, Bluff Trail, and Sycamore Spring Trail can all be enjoyed within an hour or two. These multi-use trails feature spurs for mountain bikers or family-toting hikers. For more information on the trails, visit the city's website right here.
There are different features to discover all around the lake...
The cliffs encasing the trails offer neck-craning rock features as well as bluff shelters and shallow caves. There's plenty of exploration to be had here!
...including waterfalls!
The small creeks coming off of the lake offer some very pretty cascades, especially during the wetter seasons.
Pack a picnic, bring the camera, and prepare for an afternoon of relaxation at Black Bass Lake.
This Eureka Springs getaway may be small but the memories made here will be some of your family's favorites.
