Little Rock is known for many things (like mouthwatering BBQ) but its stunning trails usually aren't the first thing that come to mind. One of these, Rock Creek Trail is quite the underrated gem. Let's take a stroll around this gorgeous trail hidden in the middle of the city.
A quiet oasis is hiding in the alley behind the strip mall of Bowman Curve II.
You wouldn't guess it but there's a full fledged trail behind the businesses of Bowman Road. For directions to Rock Creek Trail, use this map.
The trail quickly turns from a cityscape to a green escape from the city.
The full trail is an easy 3.2 miles and family-friendly (four-legged family members included). Walking, running, and biking are all welcomed along the trail. The trail isn't lit so we do recommend taking your stroll mid-morning or in the afternoon.
Surprisingly, you don't hear much of the traffic from Chenal Parkway.
The loudest sounds are just the trickling creek and tweeting birds.
You may even forget you're in the city at all.
Especially once you've reached the boardwalks through the mini bayous. With how developed the state's capitol is, it's easy to forget Little Rock used to be mostly swampland.
