Arkansas may not have a waterfall quite as expansive as Niagara Falls but we do have a slightly smaller-scaled fall that's just as beautiful. Natural Dam near Van Buren is a gorgeous fall with no hiking required. No $500 plane ticket or 1,000-mile road trip required, either! Let's skip the ponchos and massive crowds and just relax at this lovely place.
Arkansas has a plethora of beautiful waterfalls, but one in particular has a striking resemblance to a certain world wonder.
You can find the dam along N Hwy 65 in the community of Natural Dam, which is right outside of Cedarville.
The Natural Dam is Arkansas' own mini Niagara Falls.
It's a bit scaled down compared to Niagara's 2,600-ft. but the dam's 200-ft. is still pretty impressive.
And just like Niagara, the Natural Dam wasn't human-engineered.
The shelf is in fact a natural geological wonder.
Summer time is the best time to visit since the cool water is perfect for a dip.
Swim in the pool above the falls or wade in the creek below.
Even in drier seasons, the dam is still a picture-perfect backdrop for a picnic.
What's even better is that no hiking is required to reach these falls, the dam can be viewed from the road.
The Natural Dam is an Arkansas favorite both for its geology and its scenic beauty.
