The highest point in the state doesn't have to mean the peak of your trip. After you've had an adventure at Mount Magazine State Park, head east for some splendid waterfall chasing. Hardy Falls and other cascades await! Let's head down the mountain and explore a couple of these nearby waterfalls.

Mount Magazine is undoubtedly one of the best state parks in all of Arkansas.

Although the park wasn't officially established until 1983, the original lodge brought in tourists beginning in the 1900s. Today the park offers miles of trails, camping and cabins, horseback riding, and even spots for hang gliding. The park certainly has enough adventures for a week's long vacation but don't pack up and head home just yet.

After you've explored the gems around the park, take the time for a waterfall side excursion.

There's no designated trails in this area but there are quite a few cascades to catch. The first cluster to discover is along Clear Creek. These waterfalls trickle down a fairly steep canyon so we highly suggest skipping to Hardy Falls if you have young or novice hikers.

This little stone shack is hidden in the woods as well. Looking out from the shack's window you'll see a perfectly framed scene of Window Falls (the waterfall pictured above). After you've spent some time exploring the creek, head back up to your car and drive to these coordinates.

Further down the road is an easy park-and-your-there waterfall, Hardy Falls.

The waterfall is named after James W. Hardy, one of the expert designers that assisted with the road to the top of Mount Magazine in the 1930s.

It may not be the grandest of waterfalls but Hardy Falls is one of the most photographic in the state.

Part of this is thanks to Mr. Hardy's handy stonework. There's a large stone culvert right across from the waterfall that frames the cascade quite well! Whether you just make the quick drive to Hardy Falls or spend more time exploring around Clear Creek, this gorgeous area is a beautiful bonus trip to your Mount Magazine adventure.
