The caves at Blanchard Springs aren't the only thing to see in the area. On the other side of the cavern is a pleasant little trail through the forest. Let's take the trek around Mirror Lake Trail for a low-key hike with a gorgeous payoff.
Blanchard Springs should be on everyone's bucket list.
The cave tours are one of the must-visits of the state. You can read more about this 300-ft. deep adventure right here. The caves are quite a sight to behold but they're not the only thing to see while you're in the area.
Address: 704 Blanchard Springs Road, Fifty-Six, AR 72533
Mirror Lake Trail is a short stroll from the cave's exit and it'll take you through a lovely tour of the forest.
The hike is under two miles and is family-friendly. Four-legged best friends are welcomed as well as along as they stay leashed. The lake is the main feature of the trail but there are plenty of other gems along the way. Expect to see the waterfall coming out from the caverns as well as the remains of an old stone mill.
The serene waters of Mirror Lake will make the hike even more worthwhile.
The lake was created in the 1930s by the Civilian Conservation Corps. The lake is spring-fed and is perfect for trout fishing. Whether you visit for the fishing or just to take a couple of photos, the gorgeous reflections on the lake will instantly make you feel calm.
The blue water spills over into Mirror Lake Falls, one of the most photographed waterfalls in the state.
It may be human-engineered but don't underestimate the beauty from this gorgeous waterfall.
Depending on the season and recent rainfall, the lake alters from blue to green.
Every hue from turquoise to emerald is stunning so no matter when you decide to visit you'll be greeted with a picture-perfect lake.
