Heber Springs is an excellent starting point for a Greers Ferry Lake adventure but that's certainly not the only reason to visit. The town has two other nature escapes to hike around: the cascades of Collins Creek as well as a double waterfall feature, Bridal Veil and Cornelius Falls. Let's explore these lush oases and reconnect with nature.
Just off of Greers Ferry Lake resides a serene place for outdoor lovers.
Collins Creek was originally blocked off because of the Greers Ferry Dam but after a restoration project involving a buried pipe, the creek is top destination for trout fishers. The pipe pumps 40,000 gallons of chilly water into the creek every hour which has created thriving conditions for wild brook trout.
Fishers aren't the only outdoor lover that needs to spend time at the creek, hikers will find quite the haven as well!
The Collins Creek Trail is an easy out-and-back trail that follows the shoreline for 1.2 miles. The trail is well marked and well trodden, too! Families will appreciate the easiness of this trail and kids will love wading in the water during the warmer seasons.
Along this little trail you'll find stunning water features.
The creek stair steps into the most beautiful cascades. This creek doesn't have just one featured waterfall, but a collection of cascades instead. It's easy to see why this spot is beloved by photographers of any skill level.
A short drive south of Collins Creek will take you to another fabulous spot for hikers - Bridal Veil Falls Trail.
This trail is about half the size of Collins Creek's trek but contains two beautiful waterfalls. Bridal Veil Falls and Cornelius Falls are nearly park-and-you're-there waterfalls but with a few more steps. Just like the creek this area is quite family friendly, just watch for slippery rocks.
These two waterfalls, along with the cascades of Collins Creek, make Heber Springs such a wonderful getaway for nature lovers.
It's easy to add these two trails into an afternoon before setting off on another adventure at the lake. For more information about the trails and GPS-friendly maps, use this site.
