Winter festivals and parades are fun, but there's another Christmas event that everyone needs to attend. Every year, Arkansas' beloved Blanchard Springs hosts a one-of-a-kind holiday celebration. The upcoming Caroling in the Caverns will be a magical event that the whole family will adore.
Blanchard Springs Caverns is one attraction that should already be on everyone's Arkansas bucket list.
The three-level cave system is the state's second longest cave and the only tourist cave owned by the U.S. Forest Service. It's located north of Mountain View at 704 Blanchard Springs Rd., Fifty-Six, AR 72533.
There's no better time to visit the cave than around the holidays.
Most folks tend to schedule a visit during the summertime but that means they're missing the cave's signature event - Caroling in the Caverns. This year the caroling will take place on weekends beginning Friday, Nov. 23rd and run until Sunday, Dec. 16th. Tickets for this event are $25/person.
Caroling in the Caverns is easily the state's most unique holiday tradition.
Groups of local Mountain View musicians will sing and play strings in the cave's Cathedral Room. The acoustics in the cave make the performances downright mesmerizing. Expect to hear plenty of traditional folk Christmas songs in addition to a rather silly Ozark version of the 12 Days of Christmas.
Be sure to get your tickets to this one-of-a-kind event before they sell out!
Tickets to this event usually sell out before Thanksgiving. Go to this site for more details and to purchase tickets. You can also call 870-269-8068 for tickets.
The concert is certainly best in person, but watch this video if you'd like to hear a bit from a past rehearsal:
