The Alum Cove Natural Bridge Trail is located in the Ozark National Forest. Approximately 1.2 miles long, this loop trail takes hikers past a cave, a small stream, a couple of modest waterfalls, and the Alum Cove Natural Bridge. The hike itself will take less than an hour to do but you will want to spend as much time as possible here taking in all that this trail has to offer.

While some of you would rather explore popular destinations like the Lost Valley Trail and Petit Jean State Park, there are folks like me who prefer more peaceful adventures. As a self-proclaimed introvert, I’d much rather take a quiet hike where my chances of interacting with other people are slim to none. And it has nothing to do with my Arkansas folks, it’s simply because I enjoy communing with nature alone. Skipping the crowds on these outdoor adventures will create more peace and tranquility as you trek.
Easily one of the most underrated state parks in Arkansas, Withrow Springs State Park is a great destination to escape. One of the best features of the park is that it’s located along War Eagle Creek, so you can spend a peaceful day floating or fishing along the water. There are 3 hiking trails here - the War Eagle Trail, the Forest Trail, and the Dogwood Trail (currently closed due to storm damage). If you really want to avoid the crowds, now is the best time of year to visit this park.
In my opinion, the White River Bluff Loop is one of Arkansas’ best-kept secrets. This 4-mile trail is open year-round and you get to see the most stunning views of the White River. Not only that, but there are several rock formations and towering bluffs along the trail. But best of all, you might not see another person on his hike. You could easily spend a peaceful day here perched on top of a bluff admiring the breathtaking views.
Lace up your hiking boots for this 11-mile rugged trail in Mena. The Black Fork Mountain Trail is a challenging hike with a 2,300-foot elevation gain. If you enjoy backpacking and solitude, then this hike is for you. Leaf peepers, now is the time to hike this peaceful trail because the seasonal hues are blazing inside the Ouachita Mountains. There are several primitive campsites here, so you don’t have to rush as you commune with nature.
Tucked inside our favorite small town in Arkansas is a hidden gem that most folks don’t even know about. Black Bass Lake Park is a quiet and peaceful sanctuary that has a lake, walking trails, and historical sites. Spend the day here enjoying the tranquil scenes of flowing creeks and pretty cascading waterfalls. You’ll also cross towering bluffs, caves, and some unique rock formations. Eureka Springs can get pretty crowded this time of year, so if you're visiting and need a quiet place to escape, then this hidden park is for you.
Hiking uphill to see one of Arkansas’ most unique rock formations is no easy task. However, the .5-mile trek along the Arkansas Sphinx Trail is worth the reward. Not only do you get to see the strange rock formation, but there is a massive opening - a window to the Ozarks - at the base where you can sit and reflect or snap some really good pictures, especially at sunset. Either way, this rock formation is so hidden, that chances are, you’ll have it all to yourself. And if you ask me, there is no better way to enjoy a peaceful day.
Before you leave for the quietest trails and parks in Arkansas, it wouldn't hurt to download AllTrails+. Some of these destinations are so remote that you might not have a cell phone signal. Also, you might want to lace up your sturdiest hiking boots to take on the various landscapes.

Why We Love It: It's taken several trips for me to figure out my perfect "weekender bag that's TSA approved," but I've found my perfect carry on with the TOBIQ Colorado 30L.
