Arizona boasts an abundance of waterfall hikes, some more well-known than others. One you've probably never heard of is Ribbon Falls, hiding deep within the Grand Canyon on the Bright Angel Trail. The 140-foot-tall natural wonder cascades down a series of red rock walls into a crystal-clear pool, making for a refreshing swim that will cool you off while rejuvenating your every sense.
One of the most underrated waterfalls in Arizona, Ribbon Falls is hiding deep within the Grand Canyon.
It can be accessed via a six-mile hike on the Bright Angel Trail.
Standing at an impressive 140 feet high, Ribbon Falls is even taller than the iconic Havasu Falls that attracts people from across the world.
The main difference between the two is that Ribbon Falls is infinitely less popular, so you can enjoy all the same breathtaking views with none of the overcrowding.
The water spills into two separate pools, and swimming is allowed in both.
Don't say we didn't warn you about the temperature, though! It is known to be quite chilly, but most people don't mind after a long, sweaty hike.
In addition to swimming, you can also hike up behind the falls for a unique experience you'll be hard-pressed to find anywhere else in Arizona.
Between the sound of the rushing water and almost guaranteed solitude, a deep sense of tranquility that makes you never want to leave is evoked.
There's even a little cove at the base of the falls that offers a unique perspective of the water cascading down the beautiful red rocks.
Not many people know of its existence, so you'll likely be the only one inside.
A word of caution: get an early start so you'll have plenty of time to appreciate the falls before the six-mile journey back to the trailhead.
It's far from an easy hike, but in our opinion, the reward far outweighs the effort.
Ribbon Falls sits about six miles from the Bright Angel Campground, which is the starting point for most people.
