The ideal spot that comes to mind, when you are in the mood to hike in Arizona, is the Grand Canyon - of course. And rightly so. Have you been to the Grand Canyon? Just the same, don’t be afraid to expand your horizons, however. Sedona, charming and well-known for its natural red rock formations, has a notable selection of hiking trails. Come see all that Sedona has to offer when you take this surprisingly easy and beautiful hike in the Grand Canyon State.
Sedona has a population of just under 10,000. It is a desert town near Flagstaff, boasting an assortment of spas, art galleries, and places to stay – as well as an impressive list of hiking trails at hand.
The 1.9-mile Sugarloaf Loop Trail in Sedona is rated as easy. It offers views to behold, of the red rocks, as far as the eye can see.
The parking lot at the trailhead accommodates approximately ten cars. Rocks painted white guide you on the trail. There is minimal shade, so bring water, and decide what time of day is best for your group to hike.
Take the steep 0.2-mile side trail up to the summit of Sugarloaf Mountain for sweeping views of Sedona.
Enjoy the scene of Coffee Pot Rock and Chimney Rock as you make your way along the route.
Add on the 2.7-mile Teacup Trail to Coffeepot Rock Loop as part of your trek, if you want to go further.
The Teacup Trail is also rated as easy.
Arrive early to beat the crowds and the heat, and to witness a stunning sunrise on the trail.
Maybe you’ll want to bring your devoted, and leashed, doggie along for the hike.
